“It all has to come to this. Tomorrow is the day of retribution. The day in which I will have my revenge against humanity. Against all of you.” ~ Elliot Rodger
Last May, in the coastal town of Isla Vista, California near UC Santa Barbara, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger went on a bloody rampage resulting in 7 deaths (including his own) and leaving more than a dozen people injured. There were at least 12 different crime scenes including in his own apartment unit at the Capri Apartments.
Rodger’s first three victims where 19-year-old George Chen, 20-year-old Cheng Yuan Hong and 20-year-old Weihan Wang. Both Chen and Hong shared the apartment with Elliot. Hong is the roommate it was reported that Elliot had called the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 15 for “stealing his candles“.
“…when the Day of Retribution came, I would have to kill my housemates to get them out of the way .… I’d even enjoy stabbing them both to death while they slept.” ~ Elliot Rodger
Rodger had also vowed to decapitate his roommates. Did he? There are very few details available about what really happened in that apartment.
An attorney for the roommates’ family, Todd Becker, alleges the actual weapons used on the 3 young men inside the apartment were not firearms like Rodger’s other victims and were instead,
“ … a knife, a hammer, and a machete.”
In a press conference the day after the murders, Sheriff Bill Brown said,
“The three male victims were apparently stabbed repeatedly with sharp objects and it was a pretty horrific crime scene.”
One NBC Nightly News image of a tarp covered body recovered from the apartment clearly shows a narrow and long object [allegedly a machete] still protruding from a victim’s abdomen.
“ … a knife, a hammer, and a machete.” ~ Todd Becker
Autopsy reports for the three male victims inside Rodger’s apartment are still unreleased and it is unknown at what time prior to the rolling shooting spree Rodger killed them. According to his ‘manifesto’, he had planned to kill his roommates the day before what he had deemed would be his 2nd phase, the ‘War on Women’.
Becker said he ‘believes’ the men’s deaths occurred on the same day (May 23) as the rest of Rodger’s victim’s. This statement was made without autopsy reports referenced or made public and he does not say these are facts, just that he ‘believes’ them to be true.
The actual time of death for these three roommates is relevant to the timeline of events and the deterioration of Rodger’s mind. This information has been left unclear. The public has been led [by omission] to believe the thee roommates were killed the same day as the rest of Rodger’s victims, but that has not been publicly confirmed by authorities and autopsies.
In addition, autopsy reports to show definitively whether Rodger died by his own bullet or that of the authorities has also still not been released.
