TONIGHT: First, Second and Fourteenth Amendments at Play in Oregon Standoff Controversy

By CHERI ROBERTS for Challenging the Rhetoric

Who get’s equal protection under the law according to the Fourteenth Amendment?

Can one’s First and Second Amendment rights infringe on their Fourteenth?

When is speech a crime?

Who is a “journalist” and when is an activist a journalist and vice versa? Can they wear both hats? Is it ethical? Legal?

These are all question we hope to get a clearer understanding about on tonight’s Challenging the Rhetoric podcast; specifically relating to talk show host and activist, Pete Santilli. Are Pete’s speech and his (thus far) known actions…protected by any of the Amendments?

In addition to Glasser, we will be joined by Sr. Editor and writer for High Country News. Jonathan P. Thompson, whose in-depth article, “The Rise of the Sagebrush Sheriffs” helps broaden the conversation to reflect on the liabilities of those whose job it is to enforce and/or make the laws of this country, e.g.Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore and “Constitutional” Sheriff Mack and CSPOA .

What is their real involvement in the Oregon Standoff? Are they liable for inciting, condoning and supporting the actions of the 25+ individuals arrested on a Federal conspiracy charge? Are the slew of them candidates for RICO charges?

It’s going to be a big show. Please listen live at 6p PDT/9p EDT or catch the archive after.

  1. What do I think? Considering the 14th Amendment was not lawfully ratified…..half of your title is misleading. Considering Oregon rescinded their positive ratification when they learned of its true purpose to create Corporate PERSONHOOD after Congress altered the definitions of citizennand person to include Corporation to fool the public…..and more…..and considering Journalists were never anywhere resigned to impartiality …..or the New York Times and Washington Post would not exist, I find your liberal (biased) rhetoric a violation of the 1st considering you call bias activism. Just saying…..of course I am being sarcastic. But how about challenging me on any of this on the air? Your show or mine!
